Frequently Asked Questions

Individual sessions (50 minutes) are charged at £110. I kindly request payment to be made a minimum of 24 hours prior to each session via BACS, this enables me to book and protect your time slot.
If you wish to pay sessions via a medical insurance provider (e.g. BUPA, WPA), please discuss this with me before starting therapy.
-
Yes, I am registered as a provider for Cigna, BUPA, BUPA Global and WPA.
Please check with your medical provider to find out if your policy covers psychological therapy. If you wish to pay via insurance you will require a valid pre-authorisation number before booking an initial 50-min appointment. Once this information is obtained, I will invoice your insurance provider directly for payment of sessions (please note that any policy excess is payable directly to me via BACS Transfer)
If you are registered with a different medical insurance provider than those listed above, please contact them directly as many insurers allow you to re-claim the costs incurred for therapy.
-

I have worked with adults who engage in therapy for many different reasons, including those seeking support for anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, difficult life transitions, family issues, problems in their relationships or the impact of traumatic life events.
I understand that sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint what’s contributing towards your emotional pain. You might be feeling stuck in unhelpful behaviours or relationships, of feel that things generally are not going the way you expected to in life.
Do get in touch if you’d like to discuss your difficulties and whether I may be able to help.

I offer in-person appointments in Hertford (Hertfordshire), head over to the Location Tab for more details on where appointments are held.
I also offer a limited number of remote sessions via Zoom.

I understand that for many, starting therapy can feel very daunting and it can be hard to know how to really start.
Our work together will typically begin with an assessment phase (usually 2-3 sessions) where we’ll gently explore the issues that you’re bringing to therapy, your wider circumstances and discuss in more detail your unique hopes and goals for therapy.
At the end of the assessment, we’ll carefully discuss whether it’s helpful to continue working together, or whether your therapy needs are best met by another clinician or service with a different specialism.
If you have any concerns about the process of therapy, then I always encourage you to discuss these with me.
-
Appointments are offered on a weekly basis at the same time/day each week, unless agreed otherwise. All sessions are 50 minutes long. We will regularly review our work together, discussing how long you might wish to engage in therapy and when we might think it is an appropriate time to end.
-
Therapy can evoke strong emotions and I would encourage you to bring difficulties to the session so we can work on these together.
Unfortunately, I am unable to offer a crisis or urgent support service outside of sessions. If you are in danger in any way please contact emergency services (999), NHS 111, or attend your local A&E department.
For non life-threatening support, contact your GP during office hours, or reach out to the Samaritans 24/7– Tel: 116 123.
Please refer to the resources page for further information and sources of support

All sessions are conditionally confidential. However, in rare cases it is my duty of care and legal obligation to inform appropriate agencies if I have concerns about your safety or the safety of other, including children or vulnerable adults.
Information may be shared if required to do so under a court order or by law for the prevention, detection or prosecution of a crime. These situations happen very rarely, and normally I will inform you of the fact that I have disclosed information in this way.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, I kindly request that you let me know as soon as possible via email kspsychotherapy@outlook.com
